West Ham’s Manor Solomon signing vindicated as Adingra struggles with injuries at Ajax
West Ham's summer transfer strategy appears to have paid off after the club opted for Manor Solomon over Simon Adingra as a replacement for departing winger Crysencio Summerville. According to The72 EFL Football, the Hammers had considered Sunderland's Adingra among several candidates to fill the void left by Summerville's £60m move to Al-Hilal, but ultimately chose to pursue Solomon instead, completing his arrival in August.
Solomon joined West Ham at a considerably lower cost than Adingra would have demanded at the time. The Israeli winger brought Championship experience to the club, offering an alternative solution to their attacking needs following Summerville's departure.
Adingra's subsequent move tells a different story. The 24-year-old Ivorian winger joined Ajax on a season-long loan with a non-mandatory purchase option valued at approximately €16 million on deadline day. Viewed as an exciting prospect with explosive pace and one-on-one ability, his Ajax stint has been hampered by fitness concerns. An ankle injury delayed his debut until October, when he featured for around 30 minutes in a 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen, registering one shot on target.
A second setback has since emerged, with The72 reporting that further injury could keep Adingra sidelined until after the November international break. With limited time to make an impression before the January transfer window, his loan spell at the Dutch club has become increasingly problematic. His minimal output—three appearances across all competitions—leaves little opportunity to demonstrate his value before potential permanent decisions need to be made.
