Gattuso's right to sound paranoid—belief is the only thing keeping Lazio's pretenders from looking like everyone else.  •  Simeone's finally caught Aragonés in the wins column, which means we're about to hear how this proves something about his greatness that it probably doesn't.  •  Bayern created enough to win three derbies and walked away with one point, which is what happens when you play like you've already won before the whistle goes.  •  Fabregas getting away with a penalty in a one-goal game tells you everything about Como's luck this season; enjoy it while it lasts.  •  Alexander ditching five years of shape mid-season for energy management is either smart adaptation or panic—Stoke will tell us which.

Simeone equals Aragonés LaLiga wins record with Atlético Madrid victory at Levante

Atlético Madrid defeated Levante 2-0 on Saturday, a result that marked a significant personal milestone for manager Diego Simeone. According to Football España, the Argentine coach drew level with Luis Aragonés's LaLiga wins record, reaching the figure after 565 matches in charge of the club. One further league victory would see Simeone claim the record outright, with Barcelona next scheduled to visit in the league.

Atlético went into the interval ahead by a single goal. Álex Baena provided the assist for the visitors' second goal in the second half. The match featured an early controversy when Morten Hjulmand's strike was ruled out by VAR in the 17th minute. Levante manager Luís Castro received a yellow card for dissent shortly afterwards.

The scoreline underrepresented Levante's attacking threat during the contest. The hosts registered 14 shots from inside the box compared to Atlético's three, with expected goals figures of 1.33 to 0.63 in Levante's favour. Atlético goalkeeper Jan Oblak proved decisive in keeping the visitors' lead intact, producing a crucial one-handed save to deny Dani Requena around the tenth minute and finishing with a match rating of 8.08.

Atlético dominated possession with 54 percent and completed 560 passes against Levante's 450. Simeone introduced Jonathan David and Alexander Sørloth in the 67th minute, replacing Lee Kang-In and Julián Álvarez respectively. Le Normand and Lookman were brought on in the 76th minute for Barrios and Baena. The victory extended Atlético's run to seven consecutive league wins.
