Gattuso's right to sound paranoid—belief is the only thing keeping Lazio's pretenders from looking like everyone else.  •  Simeone's finally caught Aragonés in the wins column, which means we're about to hear how this proves something about his greatness that it probably doesn't.  •  Bayern created enough to win three derbies and walked away with one point, which is what happens when you play like you've already won before the whistle goes.  •  Fabregas getting away with a penalty in a one-goal game tells you everything about Como's luck this season; enjoy it while it lasts.  •  Alexander ditching five years of shape mid-season for energy management is either smart adaptation or panic—Stoke will tell us which.

Gattuso warns Lazio must maintain belief to stay at Serie A summit

Lazio manager Gennaro Gattuso has cautioned his side against complacency following their comeback victory over Cagliari, emphasising that the club will become ordinary if they allow their level of conviction and resolve to slip. According to Football Italia, Gattuso stated that maintaining such standards is essential to their continued success at the top of the table.

The Biancocelesti moved into sole first place in Serie A following the result, opening a three-point gap over Inter after the Milanese side lost the Derby della Madonnina to AC Milan. This marks a significant historical moment for the Rome club, as they occupy the summit alone for the first time in 5,836 days.

Lazio's early-season form has been remarkable, with the club securing nine victories from their opening ten Serie A matches—a record no other team has matched since Milan and Napoli achieved the same feat during the 2021-22 campaign. Gattuso acknowledged the difficulty of their contest against Cagliari, noting that those introduced from the bench made a decisive impact through their mentality and approach. He recognised Cagliari as a challenging opponent, highlighting their defensive and attacking capabilities.

The match proved competitive throughout, with Cagliari taking an early lead through M'Bala Nzola, who converted from close range after Alieu Fadera pulled the ball back from the by-line. Lazio subsequently fought back to secure the victory, demonstrating the character that has characterised their season so far.
