Juventus fine Bremer for criticising teammates following 3-0 home defeat to Lazio

Juventus have issued a fine to centre-back Gleison Bremer following his post-match criticism of teammates after Sunday's 3-0 Serie A defeat at home to Lazio, according to Football Italia. The club took disciplinary action after Bremer's comments during his interview following the match at the Allianz Stadium.

The loss proved a damaging result for Juventus, who dropped to eighth place in the Serie A table and now sit eight points adrift of the league leaders after seven matches. Lazio's Oliver Provstgaard opened the scoring in what became a one-sided encounter, with Juventus failing to register a goal in response to their opponents' three-goal haul.

During his post-match interview, Bremer, who was serving as matchday captain in the absence of Manuel Locatelli, accused unspecified squad members of becoming frightened and attempting to hide during the performance. He suggested that whilst coaching staff provide tactical instructions, players ultimately bear responsibility for implementing them on the pitch.

The result sparked considerable unrest among Juventus supporters, with some fans calling for head coach Luciano Spalletti's departure. Tensions ran high enough inside the stadium that fighting broke out amongst supporters in the stands, reflecting the club's current difficult circumstances.

Despite the backlash and calls from some quarters for former manager Antonio Conte to return, Football Italia reports that Juventus will retain Spalletti. According to Tuesday morning reports from Sky, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, the club's board remains convinced Spalletti represents the best option to improve their league position.
