Bayern Munich frustrated after twice taking lead in 2-2 Klassiker draw with Dortmund
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund finished level at 2-2 in Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, a result that left the hosts deeply disappointed despite controlling much of the match and creating numerous opportunities. According to Bavarian Football Works, Bayern twice led but conceded late in the second half, with Dortmund substitute Fábio Silva scoring the equaliser in the 89th minute.
Konrad Laimer opened the scoring in the 38th minute after pouncing on a rebound from Michael Olise's dangerous chance. Bayern doubled their advantage through Dayot Upamecano in the 66th minute, converting from a Joshua Kimmich corner after a Harry Kane assist. However, the hosts suffered a setback when Kane's penalty in the 56th minute struck the crossbar following a Felix Nmecha handball.
Dortmund pulled level through Serhou Guirassy's 60th-minute goal immediately after Kane's missed penalty. Laimer expressed frustration with Bayern's inability to convert their dominance into a victory, stating that his team had sufficient chances to win the match and that Dortmund did not create significantly beyond their two converted opportunities. He highlighted Bayern's second-half performance as particularly strong, noting better ball movement and chance creation despite the eventual draw.
Bayern also endured injury concerns during the encounter. Ismaël Saibari and Serge Gnabry both departed in the first half, whilst Michael Olise was forced off later in the match. According to Bavarian Football Works, Bayern face Atlético Madrid away in the Champions League within three days, followed by a Bundesliga fixture against Mainz.
