Walker can acknowledge it all he wants, but City's 114 charges aren't going away because players kept their heads down.  •  Bayern and Arsenal both played like they'd rather be anywhere else, which tracks for a midweek Champions League dead rubber.  •  Kargbo's back from the dead, which is fine, but Blackburn need him to actually change something rather than just exist on the bench.  •  PSG reminded Barcelona that even a good season means nothing when you run into a team that wants it more, especially in Paris.  •  Brighton are heavy favorites and shouldn't need to sweat a Conference League opener against a mid-table Czech side, so expect them to do exactly that.

Barcelona continuing search for striker after failing to sign Alvarez

Barcelona remain in the market for a new number nine despite an unsuccessful pursuit of Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window, according to reporting from Barca Blaugranes. Whilst the club has been prolific in front of goal this season, the search for a forward continues behind the scenes.

Alvarez, who plays for Atletico Madrid, has not yet finalised a move elsewhere. Reporter Matteo Moretto suggested on Radio Marca that the race for the Argentina international remains open, with Rodri's agent Pablo Barquero currently holding an advantage. However, Alvarez is understood to desire clarity on his future.

Moretto indicated that Barcelona have not ruled out reviving their interest in Alvarez for a potential move next summer, given his desire to join the club. Nonetheless, the Catalans are now evaluating alternative targets to strengthen their attacking options.

Alvarez is reportedly set to appoint Barquero as his new representative, according to Mundo Deportivo. Whilst Barcelona remain the player's preferred destination, sporting director Deco has indicated the club views the matter as resolved for now.
