Enciso sends Gomez message after 56-yard goal in Brighton’s 5-0 Palace win

Diego Gomez scored a remarkable 56-yard goal in Brighton's 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace, with the midfielder receiving a congratulatory message from former Albion player Julio Enciso within minutes of the match, according to The Argus. Enciso, a Paraguayan international and current Brighton alumnus, is celebrated for his striking ability, having previously scored a 30-yard effort against Manchester City and a winning goal at Chelsea.

Speaking after the game, Gomez acknowledged Enciso's reputation for spectacular finishes but suggested his own strike may have surpassed them. The midfielder stated that whilst Enciso regularly scores impressive goals, he was uncertain whether his former colleague had achieved a similar distance as a professional player. Gomez reflected that he may have struck similar efforts during his academy career as a child.

Gomez's goal marked his first of the season for Brighton. When asked about the absence of goals in previous matches, he indicated that whilst he would prefer to score regularly, he remained focused on team performance and responded to tactical instructions. He emphasised his commitment to improving through training and matches, viewing each opportunity as a chance to develop further.

The midfielder's strike came from an apparent spur-of-the-moment decision to shoot from distance, according to The Argus's match report. The goal gave Gomez confidence as he looks to increase his contribution in front of goal for Brighton during the remainder of the campaign.
