Walker can acknowledge it all he wants, but City's 114 charges aren't going away because players kept their heads down.  •  Bayern and Arsenal both played like they'd rather be anywhere else, which tracks for a midweek Champions League dead rubber.  •  Kargbo's back from the dead, which is fine, but Blackburn need him to actually change something rather than just exist on the bench.  •  PSG reminded Barcelona that even a good season means nothing when you run into a team that wants it more, especially in Paris.  •  Brighton are heavy favorites and shouldn't need to sweat a Conference League opener against a mid-table Czech side, so expect them to do exactly that.

Monaco defeat Freiburg 3-0 in Conference League to recover from Lorient loss

AS Monaco bounced back from their first defeat of the season by dismantling SC Freiburg at the Stade Louis II in UEFA Conference League Matchday 2 on 22 October. According to Get French Football News, the French side won 3-0 to return to winning ways after losing 1-0 to FC Lorient on the previous Sunday.

Freiburg, who were similarly seeking to recover from their opening loss of the campaign, failed to impose themselves throughout the contest. The Bundesliga side created few meaningful chances, with the match characterised by a lack of clear-cut opportunities for the visitors. Manager Julian Schuster highlighted his team's shortage of penetration as a factor in the disappointing display.

Paris Brunner, returning after missing Freiburg's weekend defeat, put Monaco ahead shortly before half-time. The Germany youth international controlled the ball with his back to goal, flicked it over his marker and finished calmly to open the scoring. Following the match, Monaco manager Filipe Luís described Brunner as being close to becoming one of the world's best strikers.

Freiburg offered little resistance in the second half despite dominating possession. They accumulated 11 corners but could not convert their territorial advantage into goals, with Lukas Kubler's attempts from a goalmouth scramble representing their only genuine chances of note. As Freiburg committed more players forward without effect, Monaco exploited the space available to them at the back to extend their advantage.
