Mbappé’s double secures Real Madrid’s first Camp Nou win in three years against Barcelona
Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou on October 25th in La Liga, according to reports from Managing Madrid and Barca Blaugranes. Kylian Mbappé scored both goals for the visitors, reaching 100 for Real Madrid in the process. The result marked Madrid's first victory at Barcelona's stadium since October 28th, 2023, ending a three-year drought in that fixture.
The win moved Real Madrid to 107 league victories against Barcelona's 106 in their head-to-head record. Barcelona had entered the match nine points clear at the top of the table and sought to extend their perfect start with a tenth consecutive win from the beginning of the 2026-27 season, but the loss ended that run. Managing Madrid noted that Mbappé's two goals took his La Liga tally to 67, with his century across all competitions split between 25 Champions League goals, four in the Copa del Rey, and others in different competitions.
Real Madrid's defensive performance proved influential. Aurélien Tchouaméni recorded a match-high 21 defensive actions whilst completing 95.7 per cent of his passes. Marc Cucurella, despite playing for Barcelona, featured among the top defensive contributors with 18 actions, whilst Jude Bellingham added 17 for Madrid. Seven of the top ten performers in defensive actions wore Madrid colours.
Barcelona's attacking craft centred on Pedri, who generated a match-high 0.38 expected threat from open-play passes and delivered four key passes. He shared the lead in that category with another player. Pau Cubarsí led in progressive passes with 11, one more than Pedri's total. Despite eight Barcelona players featuring in the top ten for expected threat created from open play, Barca Blaugranes reported the team suffered 62 separate losses of possession in the opening 45 minutes.
