On 6 August 2025, Son moved to Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC in a deal worth $26.5 million, an MLS record, departing Tottenham Hotspur after 10 years. Son has not scored in any of his 13 appearances in the current MLS campaign, having been deployed in a deeper role. However, he has provided nine assists – the joint most in the MLS in 2026. The 33-year-old is his country’s captain and record appearance maker with 144 caps.
