Carvajal makes Getafe debut in 1-1 draw with Rayo as red card forces ten-man stand
Dani Carvajal's first appearance for Getafe ended in a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, according to Football España. The 34-year-old defender started in the match at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez as Pepe Bordalás's side fell behind early before equalising in the second half.
Rayo took the lead through García, assisted by Jorge De Frutos in the opening stages. Getafe's task became significantly harder before half-time when Djené received a red card for handball, having already been cautioned. The hosts went into the interval trailing 0-1 with a numerical disadvantage.
Martin Satriano equalised for Getafe early in the second half from a Francho Serrano assist. The striker finished the match as the highest-rated player on the pitch with a rating of 8.2, recording four shots and two key passes. Despite playing with ten men, Getafe held firm to secure a draw.
Rayo dominated possession and chances throughout. Beñat San José's team controlled 68 per cent of the ball and attempted 21 shots compared to Getafe's 12, with expected goals of 2.26 against 0.61. Rayo completed 521 accurate passes to Getafe's 181. David Soria made four saves for the hosts whilst Audero was called upon three times.
Carvajal was cautioned in the 79th minute during what proved a physical encounter. Getafe accumulated six yellow cards to Rayo's three. The result means Carvajal will miss Getafe's Conference League fixture against Lugano on Thursday through suspension.
