About Hamza Abdelkarim

Born on 1 January 2008, Hamza Abdelkarim is an active Egyptian striker who came through Al Ahly’s academy before joining Barcelona. He made his professional debut for Al Ahly in February 2025, becoming the youngest player to represent the club in the 21st century. Abdelkarim represented Egypt at the 2024 UNAF U-17 Tournaments, scoring three goals in both tournaments to help his nation secure both titles. Nicknamed the “Egyptian Haaland” for his height, speed, left-footed power, and goal-scoring appetite, he has impressed Barcelona’s youth ranks since arriving.

Barcelona have activated the purchase option for Abdelkarim, making his move from Al Ahly permanent. Barcelona are set to pay Al Ahly €3 million to complete the transfer, with the final value potentially rising to €5 million with add-ons. He has played seven league matches for Barcelona’s U19A side, scoring five goals, plus two cup appearances. On 20 May 2026, Abdelkarim was named in Egypt’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
